The Toyota GT86 launched in 2012 as a joint project with Subaru (the Subaru BRZ is its twin). A naturally aspirated flat-four engine mounted low and far back, rear-wheel drive, light weight, and a chassis tuned for driver feel over outright speed. The second generation arrived in 2021 with a 2.4-litre engine and more power. It's the Toyota answer to the question "what if we built a proper sports car again?"
